Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles, and
Strategic Goals of the College of Technology and Innovation
Mission Statement:
The College of Technology and Innovation at
Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus provides baccalaureate
degrees, graduate degrees and non-degree programs
in technological fields that support the development
of professional careers, lifelong learning and professional
growth of its students. The faculty contributes to
the full range of scholarly activities, with special
attention to the economic development needs of the
community and society through research and workforce
development.
The guiding principles
of the College of Technology and Innovation
are to:
Educate professional technologists
that enter the workforce job ready at undergraduate
and graduate levels using a high degree of industrial
collaboration in the education activities and processes.
Conduct research and services
that supports the development of contextual experience
through the execution of projects that develop and
enhance student exposure to technological applications
using well-known engineering principles, techniques
and skills at or near the state-of-the-art.
Provide professional service
to our communities, the State of Arizona, the United
States and the world, with special concern for economic
and technological workforce development.
The College of Technology and Innovation is
committed to the professional development of students
and fostering team processes among them, while valuing
their individuality and diversity. The faculty and
staff seek to perpetuate excellence through collaboration
and partnerships both internal and external.
VISION
The College of Technology and Innovation is
focused on providing students with the highest quality
education available through the mechanism of a superior
curriculum, excellent instruction and teaching laboratories
that provide industrial context at or near the-state-of-the-art.
The scope of the program of study is targeted on serving
the current technological needs of Arizona and the
southwestern United States. Achievement of this vision
will make Arizona State University at the Polytechnic campus and the College of Technology and Innovation one of the leading institutions in
the delivery of applied technological education in
the nation and the world.
Strategic Goals:
Goal 1.A High Quality Faculty
The College of Technology and Innovation faculty member will hold an appropriate
terminal degree and have a minimum of three years
of applicable industrial experience.
Goal 2. National Recognition for Excellence
in Technology and Applied Sciences Education
College of Technology and Innovation will be recognized for the execution of its
mission to educate a high quality, diverse student
body of technological professionals with curricula
responsive to the needs of our graduates and their
employers.
Goal 3. National Recognition in Scholarship
and Research
College of Technology and Innovation will achieve national recognition in scholarship
and research in order to serve economic and technological
workforce development needs of the nation and to add
value to the degrees of its graduates.
Goal 4. National Leadership in Industry/University
Partnerships
College of Technology and Innovation will build and sustain a strong collaborative
education, research and technology transfer relationships
with industry through partnerships that bring mutual
benefit and add value to the degrees and functionality
of our graduates.
