About the BAS

In Fall, 1998, Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus implemented the multidisciplinary Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree. The BAS is a flexible degree plan designed specifically for students who have earned community college Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees.

  • To be admitted to the BAS, you must be within 6 hours of completing an AAS or have completed an AAS degree at a regionally accredited postsecondary institution.
  • You can then earn the BAS by completing a 60 credit hour program offered by the College of Technology and Innovation, Morrison School of Management and Agribusiness, or  School of Applied Arts & Sciences.

The BAS is a "capstone" or "inverted transfer" degree for the AAS. In completing the BAS you will complete all ASU graduation requirements. The goal of the program is to provide you with management, leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills—along with significant work in a professional specialization—that will broaden your career horizons, promote life-long learning, and enrich your personal and civic life.
